AUGUST 10-14,2026 @ THE WINNIPEG CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC
Have fun learning to play music from the New Orleans brass band tradition with one of Canada‘s premier brass bands, Dirty Catfish Brass Band! In addition to being some of Winnipeg‘s top professional musicians, the members of DCBB are highly respected educators and are excited to teach you something new!
The camp runs Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14 from 9:00am- 3:30pm located at the Winnipeg Conservatory of Music - 1476 Portage Ave (across from Polo Park).
The final concert/parade takes place Friday, August 14th 2:30pm at Oman’s Creek Park where faculty and students will form a mass band to showcase what they’ve learned throughout the week!
Open to students of all skill levels, ages 13-19 with a minimum of 1 year playing experience. Come to improve technique on your instrument, feel more comfortable improvising, and learn some fun new songs. There will be room for everyone to participate and acquire new skills. Get ready to take your playing to the next level!
Developing skills to learn music by ear and arranging songs as a group will be the primary focus of the camp. You’ll learn how scales and numbers can help you memorize songs and some music notation will be used to help with the learning process.
